Online Video Lessons

Hello everyone,

Starting from Monday 23rd March 2020 I will be offering online 1-2-1 video lessons for those who are self-isolating or are worried about the Coronavirus (COVID-19). If you are not in self-isolation and are happy to continue your regular lessons with me, then I’m happy to keep our usual arrangement. Please let me know whichever you decide.

If you are interested in the video lessons, you will need the following:

  • A smartphone/tablet/laptop that has a camera
  • Reliable Wifi
  • Software such as Skype, Whatsapp, Google Duo, Microsoft Teams, or Zoom (Links for all of these are provided at the end of this message)

If you don’t have one or more of the above and are still interested in continuing lessons whilst in self-isolation, click here for an alternate option that I am providing.

To begin with, I suggest we attempt a 30-minute lesson to test the connection and check everything is working. We can extend the length of the lesson afterward if needs be.

If you are a guitar student, I would need you to place your camera so I can see the body and neck of the guitar. I do not need to see your face.

For keyboard/piano players, it may be more difficult to position the camera in order to see your fingers on the keyboard. However, it is possible to have the lesson without me seeing your hand positions as the audio is more important. Again, I do not need to see your face.

I will have my camera set up so you can see my guitar and face. For my keyboard, I’m still working on a way for you to see what keys I am playing- I will have a solution by the weekend.

In terms of learning new songs/exercises, I will send links for you to view on your device whilst we are having the lesson. If you have a printer, feel free to print the sheets. However, if you don’t have access to a printer, let me know and I will send the music to you via first-class post (Free of charge), or if you live close to me then I can post it through your letterbox.

In terms of my fee, I’m happy to reduce the cost of your lessons by £1.50. The overall fee will need to be paid via bank transfer within 48 hours of your lesson. I will provide bank details when I speak to you directly.

If you have any questions please get in touch. My main aim is to make sure my students still have the opportunity to have their lessons and enjoy playing music during this difficult time. However, if you would prefer not to have lessons until everything calms down, that is fine with me. Please, let me know your answer.

All the best, and most importantly keep safe.
